Help us Build Lucas House
Every day, families receive the news that their child is diagnosed with a life limiting illness. This journey can be the most difficult one imaginable.
Right this moment, loving parents are providing round-the-clock demanding care for their seriously ill child. They are exhausted, and need a chance to emotionally and physically recharge.
Lucas House will be a place that offers opportunities for relief, rest, comfort, and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Lucas House will be a safe short-stay overnight facility for children with life-limiting/threatening illnesses providing unique play-based experiences, individualized daily care, and supportive relationships.
Lucas House will provide family-centered resources, information, and supportive services. Lucas House will support the whole family through the journey of a child's life-limiting diagnosis to end-of-life.
The goal of the house will be about LIVING and making the most of life, no matter the circumstances.
Lucas was born on October 2007. For the first two months of life, he progressed like any other child. A few months after he was born, he started exhibiting peculiar behaviors. He would cry constantly and arch his back and neck in unusual ways for a baby. At first we chalked it up to colic, but we suspected something else.
You can make a difference!
With your support, you can make this journey easier by providing much needed relief for both the child and caregiver.
